LIKE BUTTER’S owners Jem Freeman and Laura Woodward established their business two years ago in Castlemaine’s Wesley Hill Industrial area.

They installed a 27kW PV solar system on their roof with a three phase inverter and produce enough energy to power all the needs of their factory and then some. Jem says, “On average we’re exporting in excess of 2300kW hours per month (into the grid) on top of what we use.”

The couple are now exploring the possibility of establishing a neighborhood battery in co-operation with other solar exporters in their immediate area.

“We’re going for carbon neutrality,“ Jem says, “We donate one percent of our revenue to plant trees.”
