Present: Simon, Deb, Frances, Fran, Jade from Midland Express (wider reach and free)/ Castlemaine Mail (more central)

  • 1) Acknowledgement of Country
  • 2) Briefing for Jade from Press re December 14 event/ Dec 14 planning
    • – Thanks to Jade for attending.
    • Actions:
    • – invitation ready to go once we have the Eventbrite link.
    • – Deb will send to all climate groups, councillors, schools, businesses, CCH.
    • – Simon will work on layout.
    • – Future action item: Source MASC board to have at our function.
    • We can use MANZWG funds for food. Discuss at next meeting.
    • Action:
    • – Deb still to change on invite: Time, logos, link, Phil replacement, drinks start at 5pm.

    • What qualifies businesses for stories: Transport/Energy/Materials/products:
    • Savings and logistics in the journey.

  • 3) Passing of previous Minutes.
    • – Motion by Deb, seconded by Fran.
  • 4) Treasurer’s Report
    • – $3054.93 balance. – the admin fee from MASG
    • – Frances to put updated report on the password protected area on the website.
    • – Frances will seek confirmation on existing balance with MASG.
    • – Simon sought approval for $124.99 for magnet reimbursement. Approved unanimously.
    • Action: Frances to action this payment.
  • 5) Website: follow up on action: Simon’s password protected area for Minutes/Agendas/Files.
    • Action:
    • – Heather to liaise with Simon to transfer all Agenda and Minutes to this site.
    • Email protocols:
    • New thread for new topics
    • New subject lines: “MANZWG – topic”
    • Revisit idea of CC-ing in our MANZWG address at a later date.
  • 6) Vision statement approval:
    • Draft:
    • “To forward the objective of 100% renewable energy use in Mount Alexander Shire and inspire and encourage community focus by telling the stories of projects in our towns and surrounds.”
    • Agreed unanimously.
    • Action:
    • – Fran to change on website.
  • 7) Frances report of MASG relationship:
    • – Mick has endorsed our affiliation for grant purposes. We are to let MASG know whenever we apply for a grant.
    • – Simon to put in appearance at next MASG meeting.
  • 8) Video updates:
    • – MASC grant acquittal submitted. Thank you Frances!
    • We need to provide Mount Alexander Shire Council with evidence of our promotion of the shire’s support: sentence + logo.
    • Borrow a sign from council for events.
    • – Botanical Gardens clinic use:
    • Need to divide into segments.
    • Action:
    • – All to look at The Mill film for 15 second lots X 12.
  • 9) Grants update:
  • 10) Schools update:
    • Deb: Bendigo Sustainability group analysis on 4 schools (Colin Lambie). Then did Orkestra analysis: not fruitful.
    • Energy Locals analysis found that schools on really good electricity rates currently.
    • Solution: storage. Deb has created presentation to Maree Edwards.
    • Conclusion is that the Schools join the solar banks (hospitals, businesses, schools) program run through SEC – Or – Energy Locals: doing big battery modelling. This is another option.
  • 11) Next stories:
    • Group discussion on priorities: (Electricity/Agriculture/Transport)
    • – Tribe: up on website!
    • – Tortoise Coffee: communication has been established. No response yet.
    • – Incarnation: recycled fabrics and garments. Fran is seeing them on Monday.
    • – Mat’s mobile bike repair business? On hold: not ready yet.
    • – Prisons? Too difficult.
    • – Green folly? Too busy before Christmas. Recycled water, etc. Solar?
    • – Russell Parsons, Maldon builders: passive-ish houses.
  • 12) Magnets produced – thank you Simon!
  • 13) Contact with Tarrengower Times. Fran has written a story for TT which references the event.
